How Long Does It Take to Build a Business Website?
Published July 21, 2026 · Site Mints Team
"How fast can you get this live?" is one of the first questions most business owners ask - and the honest answer is: it depends far more on you than on the developer.

What Actually Determines the Timeline
Website design and coding itself is usually the fast part. What slows a project down almost always comes from one of these:
- How ready your content is - if you already have your business description, photos, price list and logo ready to send, the build can move quickly. If content has to be written and gathered from scratch, that step often takes longer than the actual website build.
- How many rounds of revisions you want - a quick "looks good, ship it" review is much faster than several rounds of design changes.
- Domain and DNS setup - buying a new domain and pointing it live can add a day or two depending on the registrar.
- Scope - a simple 5-page informational site is a very different timeline from a site with a booking system, payment gateway or multi-language content.
Realistic Timelines by Project Type
Simple 5-page business website (with content ready): 2-3 days is realistic if you're working with a developer who isn't juggling a huge queue.
10-page site with gallery, maps integration, more content: typically 4-7 days.
Custom features - booking systems, payment integration, custom design work: anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on complexity.
DIY website builder: could be live the same day, but expect to spend several evenings on layout and copy yourself.
How to Actually Speed It Up
- Have your business name, description, services/products list, and contact details written out before you start.
- Gather your best photos in advance - a phone camera in good light is usually fine.
- Decide on your domain name early so registration doesn't hold things up.
- Agree on the number of revision rounds upfront so there's no back-and-forth ambiguity.
Our Process
For most small businesses we work with, a Starter or Business site goes live in 2-3 days once we have your details - because we've streamlined the process down to what actually matters. See how it works on our website development page.
